Delta Calgary Airport Hotel
The booming metropolis of Calgary, known best for its gleaming skyscrapers and oil-rich history, serves as a major airport hub in Alberta. Calgary International airport is the fourth-busiest airport in all of Canada, and Grand Image enjoyed working with CHIL Design and Delta Hotels to refresh their lounge space in their airport hotel.
The artwork drew inspiration from the beauty of Canadian flight maps and the cool, beautiful tones found in the rugged, foggy northern wilderness. This focal piece evokes a sense of movement and place, honoring the busyness of the airport and the locations a traveler could be heading.

Grand Image experimented with several colors and widths of flight path lines, along with the number of lines & curved paths to create some harmony across the width of the piece. Another change allowed for some breathing room for the 3D discs/hubs to work well together. Grand Image then explored several background color variations and treatments until we found the right balance between the background, the discs, and the cord/rope embellishments.
