Hotel 1000

Seattle, Washington

Two large dimensional artworks shine inside the sleek interior of downtown Seattle’s Hotel 1000. Thousands of golf tees create an idyllic image of a golf course, while upstairs at reception a Yakisugi Mount Rainier stretches to 18’ of inspiration.

Artwork concepted by Hope Hellberg of Grand Image. Project managed by Kendall Krasik of Grand Image.

Perched in the back of Seattle’s only TopGolf Swing Suit, over 13,000 hand painted golf tees adorn this custom artwork. The inspiration for the piece is the iconic 15th hole at Chambers Bay, a renowned U.S. Open golf course about an hour from the hotel. Each tee is color-coded to the terrain and raised and recessed to mimic the exact textures of the hole.

The Yakisugi process is a traditional Japanese process of wood finishing. The charred wood surface adds durability and water-proofing, as well as making the wood significantly more fire-resistant. Each of the 43 panels used in this artwork was painstakingly carved, charred, and sealed for maximum longevity.
