Cascadian at 330 Yale

South Lake Union

Seattle, WA

DNA is the main focus of Cascadian, a Class A life science research facility in short commuting distance of many major medical centers. The intricacies of life are showcased in a 9-panel installation of a DNA sequence and a 2-piece metal print elevator lobby installation. All colors, materials, and finishes were carefully selected to pay homage to Seattle.

Key locations supported by Grand Image include the main lobby, the main elevator lobby, and a gallery wall on the 9th floor.

Each solid wood panel in this 9-piece install stretches over 6 feet tall, adding visual interest without dominating the space. The chosen colors include nods to the Mariners, the Kraken, the Seahawks, and local flora like wildflowers, moss, and cherry blossoms. The final panels were resin coated to add a dynamic luster.

This metal print inspired by a strand of DNA was printed on white metal and contour cut for a unique shape. The artwork was initially recolored to better match the lobby installation. Both pieces are mounted on stand off hardware for a dramatic floating effect.
